Das wundersame Leben von Timothy Green

Cindy und Jim Green sind kinderlos und werden bei der Adoptionsbehörde vorstellig. In Flashbacks erklären sie den Beamten, wie auf magische Weise ein zehnjähriger Junge in ihr Leben tritt, dem Blätterranken aus seinen Knöcheln wachsen. Ihr Sprössling namens Timothy erweist sich als Traum von einem Sohn, der für alle um ihn herum ein Lichtblick ist. Doch als seine Blätter zu verwelken beginnen, wird klar, dass nichts im Leben von Dauer ist. Regisseur und Drehbuchautor Peter Hedges hat bereits mit Filmen wie "About A Boy" (unr als Autor) und "Dan - Mitten im Leben!" sein Gespür für warmherzig-witzige Gefühlsunterhaltung bewiesen. Jetzt liefert er nach einer Story-Idee von Ahmet Zappa einen Disneyspielfilm klassischer Machart. Mit Jennifer Garner und Joel Edgerton hochkarätig besetzt, schlägt Hedges einen märchenhaften Ton an, um aber doch emotional überwältigend über allzu Menschliches zu erzählen. Saubere Unterhaltung, die ihre Sache sehr gut macht.

After receiving bad news from a fertility doctor, Cindy and Jim Green try to bury their dreams of having a child by writing out all the great traits their child would have and putting them in a box in the garden. During a freak storm in the middle of the night, they awake to find a boy named Timothy, with leaves growing from his ankles, standing in their kitchen calling them mom and dad. Cindy and Jim are thrown into the midst of parenthood and over the coming months, Timothy will teach them more than they could have imagined about being parents and raising a child, no matter how he comes into their lives.
