Sämtliche Prestige-Colleges wollen den begabten Sportler für ihr Team. Nach Reisen zu privaten Universitäten in Texas und Kalifornien zeigt der Umworbene Starallüren und es kommt zum Familienzwist. Bestechungsversuche in Johnnys Umfeld (Trainer, Großvater und selbst sein bester Freund werden beeinflußt) führen schließlich dazu, daß der Junge sich gegen das große Geld entscheidet und mit seiner Freundin zur staatlichen Uni geht.
