Weihnachten steht vor der Tür, also machen sich Hilary und ihr Sohn Joey auf zu einem Besuch zu Hilarys Eltern. Schon bald brodelt es gewaltig in der australischen Grossfamilie: Nicht nur die Probleme zwischen Joey und Hilarys Freund und dessen Sohn überschatten das Fest, sondern auch die anderen Familienmitglieder tragen zu dem total verrückten Weihnachtsfest bei.

Between barbecuing the family dog, performing a self-burial and causing his intended step-father to consume a startling amount of hash, Joey learns a few life lessons from Albert, who despite his many vices may give Joey the strength to accept the past and embrace the future.
