Somersault - Wie Parfüm in der Luft

Nach einem Streit mit der Mutter, der sie eben erst den Liebhaber ausspannte, flieht die 16-jährige Heidi (Abbie Cornish) in den abgelegenen Wintersportort Jindabyne. Dort findet sie bei der älteren Hotelbesitzerin Irene (Lynette Curran) nicht nur einen Job, sondern auch offene Ohren für ihre Probleme. Heidi ist sich ihrer Wirkung auf Männer voll bewusst und stolpert von einer Affäre in die nächste, bis schließlich der Farmersohn Joe (Sam Worthington) ihren Weg kreuzt und tiefere Gefühle weckt. Eine für einen Film aus Australien ungewohnt winterliche Kulisse wählte Regisseurin und Langfilmdebütantin Cate Shortland für ihr einfühlsames Coming-of-Age-Arthousedrama.

Australian teenager Heidi is left with little choice but to leave home after she's caught red-handed with her mother's boyfriend. With few options, Heidi ends up in Jindabyne, a tourist community. Upon meeting Joe at a bar, she pursues a relationship with him and tries to find something resembling a normal home life. Heidi makes small strides by getting a job and finding a place to stay, but her relationship with Joe must overcome more than its share of hurdles.
