Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot

Lieutenant Joe Bomowski, beruflich wie privat ohnehin arg geschüttelt, bekommt zu allem Überfluß Besuch von seiner agilen Mutter Tutti. Nur die Hoffnung, daß die putzwütige Dame, die nicht einmal davor zurückschreckt, Babyfotos von Joe auf dem Revier herumzuzeigen, bald wieder abreist, bewahrt Joe davor, seinen Verstand zu verlieren. Die Hoffnungen zerplatzen wie eine Seifenblase, als Tutti Zeugin eines Mordes wird. Jetzt hat sie auch noch Zeit, in Joes Privatleben für Unruhe zu sorgen. Doch schließlich raufen sich Mutter und Sohn doch noch zusammen. Tutti hilft Joe sogar noch, skrupellose Waffenschieber, die auch für den Mord verantwortlich waren, dingfest zu machen. Das Buddy-Picture-Genre ist um eine skurrile Variante reicher: Sylvester Stallone ("Rambo I, II & III") darf sich in seiner zweiten komischen Rolle nach "Oscar" mit dem bezaubernden "Golden Girl" Estelle Getty in der Rolle seiner alptraumhaften Mutter herumschlagen.

A tough cop's (Sylvester Stallone) seemingly frail mother (Estelle Getty) comes to stay with him and progressively interferes in his life. She buys him an illegal MAC-10 machine pistol and starts poking around in his police cases. Eventually, the film draws to a denouement involving the title of the film and the revelation that even though she seems frail and weak she is capable of strong actions in some circumstances, i.e. when her son is threatened by thugs and she shoots herself in the shoulder.
