New York ist auch nicht mehr, was es mal war, finden die grantelnden Rentner Lenny und Ruben aus Brooklyn beim Anblick der familiengerecht aufpolierten, ihrer Kanten befreiten Innenstadt und der galoppierenden Gentrifikation ihres Lebensraumes. Da bringen zwei Ereignisse Bewegung in Lennys vorhersehbaren Alltag. Erst lernt er die attraktive Rentnerin Mimi kennen, und dann erfährt er, dass er sein gesamtes Vermögen bei riskanten Investments verzockt hat. Zuerst ist die Depression groß, doch dann kommt Lenny eine Idee. Zornige alte Männer bejammern, dass New York nicht mehr so aussieht wie in den romantischen 70ern, als die tätowierte U-Bahn noch durch Brandruinen fuhr und man am Times Square am hellichten Tag vor dem Pornokino ausgeraubt wurde (statt im Nobelrestaurant von einem Kellner). Wer sich an solcherlei Nostalgie nicht stört, sondern vielmehr erfreut, sitzt in der ersten Reihe bei einer schrägen Kriminalkomödie im Dramengewand mit pointierten Dialogen und erstklassigen Charakterdarstellern.
