In Cold Case spielt Kathryn Morris die Polizeibeamte Lilly Rush, die in der Mordkommission arbeitet. Sie hat sich auf Fälle spezialisiert die bereits Jahre alt sind und nie aufgeklärt werden konnten. Nicht immer kommt sie bei der Aufklärung allein zu recht. Deshlab wird sie unterstützt von Lt. Tom Stillman (John Finn), ihrem Mentor.
