Holmes ersetzt den Diamanten durch eine Kopie und tatsächlich wird der falsche Stein gestohlen und Carstairs ermordet.
Viel Zeit bleibt nicht für den Meisterdetektiv - er muß den Mörder entlarven, bevor der Zug das nächste Mal hält und dieser fliehen kann...
